Writers' Hub Spring 2026 Workshops
Each semester, the 榴莲视频 MFA Program develops a series of creative writing workshops that are open to local community members and program alumni as well as to current MFA students. These events are designed to dig deeply into a specific element of the craft of writing and to help participants hone their skills. All events take place at Barat House, home of the Dowd-O'Gorman Creative Writing Center, tucked away on 榴莲视频鈥檚 vibrant campus. Please see this semester鈥檚 offerings below. Upcoming Workshops
Love means never having to say you鈥檙e sorry, but bad dialogue can ruin your day. Dialogue is a primary tool in storytelling, but it鈥檚 often confused with conversation. Whether you鈥檙e writing for film, stage, or novels and memoirs, dialogue can elevate your story, provide character insight, and add humor and warmth. When used correctly, it can turn the mundane into the profound. In this workshop, we鈥檒l examine classic dialogue and explore what makes it work, uncovering the levels needed to propel the character and story forward. In this 2-hour intensive, we鈥檒l use some fun in-class exercises to unlock hidden gems in your own work. So, fasten your seatbelts, we鈥檙e in for an exciting class.
